Former Chief of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). Kasturirangan died on Friday morning. He was 84 years old. Officials said Kasturirangan breathed his last at his home in Bengaluru. On 27 April, his body will be kept at the Raman Research Institute (Rri) for the last visit.

Kasturirangan was the ISRO Chief from 1994 to 2003. Under his leadership, ISRO started planning big missions like Chandrayaan. He was also the chairman of the Drafting Committee of the New Education Policy (NEP). Kasturirangan worked as Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University and President of Karnataka Knowledge Commission.

Kasturirangan was a member of the Rajya Sabha from 2003 to 2009. He also worked as a member of the then Indian Planning Commission. Kasturirangan was also the director of the National Institute of Advanced Studies in Bangalore from April 2004 to 2009.
