New Delhi. Chennai Super Kings are almost out of the IPL. The 5 -wicket defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad has brought him out of the playoff race. Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, after a 5 -wicket defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad, admitted that his team failed to take advantage of the better situation for batting. And he scored 15 to 20 runs. Chasing the target of 155 runs for Super Kings, Sunrisers won 155 for 5 wickets in 18.4 overs from the innings of Ishan Kishan (44), Kamindu Mendis (32) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (not out). Mendis and Nitish made an unwavering partnership of 49 runs for the sixth wicket and brought the team to the target.
Earlier, Super Kings lost wickets at regular intervals in front of Harshal Patel (four wickets for 28 runs), captain Pat Cummins (two wickets for 21 runs) and Jaydev Unadkat (two for 21) and the team lost wickets at regular intervals and the team was reduced to 154 runs in 19.5 overs. Dhoni admitted that his team could not take advantage of the better situation for batting. Dhoni said after the match, ‘I think we kept losing wickets continuously. Dhoni praised Brevis who played a great innings. Dhoni said, ‘I think he batted very well. And we needed it in mid -order. When the spinner comes, you score runs either with your batting or choosing the right areas. But this is an area where we want to improve because middle overs are important. In such a tournament, if you have to overcome the deficiencies in one or two areas, it is good but when most players are not doing well then you need to make changes. You can’t just keep going. We are not able to score enough runs.
