Mumbai. Sonu Nigam has been surrounded by controversies for the last few days. Avallly police of Bengaluru Rural District on Monday issued a notice to Sonu Nigam to appear before the investigating officer next week. Last Saturday, during the program held at a private college, an FIR was lodged against them for hurting the feelings of Kannada speakers by comparing Kannada songs with the Pahalgam Hindu massacre. This incident took place in Hirandahalli, Bidarhalli. Some spectators demanded Sonu Nigam to sing Kannada songs, on which he allegedly said, “The same behavior caused the Pahalgam incident.”
The police have registered a case against Sonu Nigam against Sonu Nigam Section 352 (deliberately insulted the intention of disturbing peace), 351 (2) (whoever committed a criminal intimidation crime, will be punished with imprisonment, fines, or both), and 353 (statement for public disturbance).
Bangalore Rural Superintendent of Police CK Baba said that Sonu Nigam has been instructed to appear before the police next week. He said, “He will get legal notice in a few days, and he has been given enough time to appear before us.” Meanwhile, another official said that he has called the organizers of the program Avallly Police Station.
The officer said. “They can come anytime. We will get information about the program and the event from them. Also, we have sent a copy of the video shown by Sonu Nigam for authentication in Forensic Science Lab.” This controversy of Sonu Nigam has been reacted by CBFC President and lyricist and script writer Prasoon Joshi.
Prasoon Joshi said, “I don’t know how this dispute started. I have not even followed it. I think I keep myself away from anything that hinder the diversity of my country. I believe that our diversity is our greatest strength. We should all talk positively.”
