The Delhi High Court on Friday granted bail to film director Sanoj Kumar Mishra in a rape case. The 28-year-old victim said in the affidavit that she was in a live-in relationship with Sanoj Mishra and had an agreement with consent. He also said that he had lodged an FIR under pressure from some opponents of Mishra.
After this, Justice Girish Kathpalia granted bail to Sanoj Kumar Mishra. Justice Kathpalia said that this is another case of registering false complaints of rape. This not only damages the image of the accused, but also creates doubts and mistrust in the whole society. He was arrested by Delhi Police in March 2025 after the FIR was registered in the rape case.
Sanoj Mishra’s lawyers Amit Chadha and Aamir Chaudhary argued that the film director and the complainant were in a long-in relationship. The two lived together in Mumbai, while the charge of rape has been accused in Orchha, Madhya Pradesh. Therefore, this matter was not even under the jurisdiction of Delhi.
At the same time, in her statement on May 21, the woman said that the accused never committed a rape or any crime with her and she was in a relationship with her for the last five years. He had filed a false complaint by coming under the provocation of some people. The complainant also said that he had no objection to getting bail to the accused.
After this, Justice Kathpalia said that now there is no reason for not giving bail to the accused. The judge directed Sanoj Mishra to release a private bond of Rs 10,000 for the satisfaction of the trial court, Area Magistrate or Duty Magistrate on a private bond of Rs 10,000 and an amount of the same amount.
