New Delhi. The Indian Mains hockey team will try to overcome their previous defeat in the match against the Netherlands in the European phase of the FIH Pro League on Monday. India faced 1-2 defeat in the first match against the Olympic champions Netherlands on Saturday. India will again face the Netherlands on 9 June.
After the match, India’s head coach Craig Fulton said. “We played well in the first half but the third quarter was not as good. We played well again in the fourth quarter, but we were not getting opportunities to score goals. It was unfortunate to lose like this because I felt that we could have stressed for the draw. We wanted to push ourselves as much as possible, especially against the team like Netherlands.”
To secure a place for next year’s World Cup, India will aim to perform well in the remaining matches and score maximum points against challenging rivals. India scored 15 points with five wins in eight matches in the domestic phase of Pro League in Bhubaneswar earlier this year.
