India’s continuous defeat continues on the tour of Europe. After Australia and Argentina, Belgium also defeated India. Belgium defeated Team India 5–1. The Indian team will face Belgium again on Sunday.

The Indian women’s hockey team suffered a 5th consecutive defeat in Europe.

New Delhi. The Indian women’s hockey team’s FIH Pro League continues to be defeated. Team India suffered a crushing defeat of 1-5 against Majn Belgium. This is the fifth consecutive defeat of the Indian team in the European phase of the tournament. The team earlier lost two matches against Australia and Argentainer in London. Deepika (sixth minute) gave India an edge but after the intermission, Belgium’s team dominated and Halen Breser (37th and 55th), Lucy Brain (41st minute), Ambre Belangheen (54th minute) and Charlotte Angelburg (58th minute) were successful in registering easy win.

Belgium made an aggressive start and made the initial dominance by repeatedly attacking the Indian circle but the visiting team made well. The hosts got a chance to score the first goal of the match on the penalty corner but Indian goalkeeper Savita defended well. The Indian team returned after this. India got a penalty corner and Deepika made no mistake in converting it into a goal. Deepika scored the ball from Belgian goalkeeper Elena Sotgiyu’s feet in the sixth minute.

Belgium put pressure on the Indian defense in the second quarter and as a result it found two penalty corners in the 19th and 21st minutes, but on both occasions the Indian defense line thwarted the attacks. Captain Salima Tete gave India a second penalty corner in the 23rd minute but it could not be a goal. India got the only good opportunity after the interval as the fourth penalty corner but the team could not convert it into a goal either. In the second half, the Belgian team dominated.

The strategy of India’s defensive stance was heavy. Belgium received three consecutive penalty corners in the 37th minute, out of which Helen converted the final into a goal and equaled his team. Belgium received a continuous penalty corner after this. Savita stopped the 11th penalty corner of the team, but Lucy put the ball in the rebound and put the hosts ahead 2–1. After one minute Belgium got another penalty corner but the team could not score at it. Embreen, Helen and Charlotte then scored a goal on the penalty corner to ensure Belgium’s 5–1 victory. The Indian team will face Belgium again on Sunday.
