The Northeast team was in a better position by scoring 128 runs for two wickets at one time, but left -spinner Harsh Dubey (two wickets for 19 runs in 17 overs) and his Vidarbha’s partner Thackeray (three wickets for 23 runs in 11 overs) showed four batsmen for the pavilion for just six runs within five overs. Apart from this, captain Rongsen Jonathan (four) was run out. This led to the team’s score to 136 runs for seven wickets for two wickets. Ankur Malik (31 not out) and Paljor Tamang (three not out), however, did not allow the team to suffer any more damage.
Earlier, the central region started the day by 432 runs for two wickets. The team batted 100 runs in the early session of the day and added 100 runs. During this, Danish Malewar (203) retired after completing his first double century of his first class career. Malewar was unbeaten on 198 runs on the first day of the match. Left -handed batsman Yash Rathore (87 not out) shared an 89 -run partnership for the fourth wicket with Shubham Sharma (34 not out). As soon as Shubham was out, the team declared the innings.
The opening pair of Karnjeet Yumnam (48) and Tichi Doria (20) batting vigilantly gave a solid start to the northeast region. Both of them had no problem in facing Indian fast bowler Deepak Chahar (37 runs without any success). Dubey broke Doria by bowling a 72 -run partnership for the first wicket. Rajat Patidar then runs out Karnjeet. Jehu Anderson (17) and Ashish Thapa (35) shared a 53 -run partnership for the third wicket. Dubey also broke this half -century partnership. It was also the 100th first class wicket in the 20th match for Dubey. Thackeray pushed the northeastern region on the backfoot by taking wickets in the 49th, 51st and 53rd over of the innings.
