Potatoes weight gain: Vegetable cannot be imagined without potatoes in our country. But as soon as someone gets overweight or someone has diabetes, it is often said that potatoes do not eat or else blood sugar will increase. Although many studies have said that boiled or roasted potatoes are beneficial for health, but when it is fryed with more oil or spices, it causes damage. Potatoes also contain many nutrients. 100 grams of potato contains 1.9 grams of protein, 20.1 grams of carbohydrate, 0.9 grams of sugar, 1.8 grams of fiber and 0.1 grams of fat. Apart from all this, there are ingredients like potassium, vitamin B6, vitamin C and folate. It also contains antioxidants which protect the body’s cells from damage. In this way, there is a complete package of potato diet. Still people consider it a villain. That is why we talked to Dr. Paras Aggarwal, an expert of metabolic disease at Asia Marngo Hospital.

Does weight really gain

Dr. Paras Aggarwal said that of course potatoes have many nutrients, but whether it will increase weight or not, it depends on how you eat potatoes. If you only boil potatoes and eat in limited amounts then weight will not increase. But if you fry potatoes in plenty of oil, then it will definitely increase weight. If you cook the potatoes for a long time, you will still be harmed. By frying the dip, it will increase the amount of fat along with carbohydrate, due to which it will increase calories and if this calories will not be spent, then the body will accumulate in the form of fat. Therefore, if you eat potatoes in this way, obesity will increase, but if you are healthy and eat a limited amount of potatoes in a simple way, then weight will not increase.

Does it increase blood sugar
Dr. Paras Aggarwal said that eating potatoes can increase blood sugar. As you know, potatoes have high carbohydrate content. Along with this, starch is also very high in it. Therefore, if you eat more simple potato vegetables, then it will increase blood sugar. This is the reason that we advise diabetes patients to eat limited amounts of potatoes. Therefore, most diabetes patients leave potato food. This is a good habit. If diabetes patients eat more fried potatoes, then sugar will increase more, other problems will also increase. Eating more potatoes will increase obesity which will give rise to many metabolic diseases in itself.

The right way to eat potatoes
According to Dr. Paras Aggarwal, potatoes should be eaten in limited quantity by boiling in the old way. Do not fry it too much. If you have a disease, consult a doctor. Eating potatoes with peel can be very less harmful.
