Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday congratulated the 19 -year -old Indian chess player Divya Deshmukh after a win in the Women’s World Cup.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated Divya Deshmukh. PM Modi said by phone on Divya. Modi Wrote on ‘X’:
Historical finals between two outstanding Indian chess players. Fide Women’s World Chess Champion 2025 is proud of Divya Deshmukh. Congratulations to them for this remarkable achievement. This will inspire many youths.
President Draupadi Murmu also congratulated Divya Deshmukh on winning the FID Women’s World Cup in Georgia. President Murmu wrote on ‘X’:
My heartiest congratulations to Divya Deshmukh, who has become the first Indian woman to win the FID Women’s World Cup and that too at the young age of 19. Koneru Hampi was the runner -up. Both the finalists of the Chess World Championship were from India. This shows the abundance of talent in our country, especially in women.
The victory also made 19 -year -old Divya a prestigious title and also made her a grandmaster which seemed impossible at the beginning of the tournament.
