IndiGo leased 2 large planes (Boeing 777) under the deal in 2023 from Turkish Airlines.
DGCA (Director General of Civil Aviation has given IndiGo the last 3-month ultimatum to fly 2 aircraft of Turkish Airlines. IndiGo took 2 large planes from Delhi-Mumbai to Istanbul from Delhi-Mumbai to Istanbul under the deal in 2023.
The deal also includes Turki Airlines pilots and crew members for the aircraft. This agreement is for 6 months. It has to be renewed every six months. AI has refused to pursue it from the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
This decision has come at a time when Turkey gave a statement against India while supporting Pakistan. On May 15, the Government of India also canceled the security clearance of the Turkish company CELEBI Airport Services India Pvt Ltd. Many travel websites have also advised not to go to Türkiye.
Meanwhile, DGCA ordered Turkish Airlines to abolish the agreement. After this, IndiGo asked for 6 months. Now DGCA has given the last extension till 31 August so DGCA has given the last time to 31 August. But IndiGo will have to abolish the agreement with Turkish Airlines in due time.

Five big steps to boycott Turkas
- India’s online travel platforms such as Ezmatrip and Ixigo have issued advisory for not traveling to Turkas and Azerbaijan citing security risk and political tension.
- Jawaharlal Nehru University, the prestigious university in India, suspended its agreement with Inonu University of Turki citing national security. AMU also ended educational relations.

- Adani Airport Holdings has finished his partnership with Turk’s firm Celebi for ground handling services at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel of Ahmedabad.
- The Boycott of Turkas in India is constantly increasing. After travel agencies and merchant organizations, the country’s leading e-commerce platforms and Reliance-owned AJIO have also stopped selling Turkas products. These brands are now out of stock on these platforms.
Indian tourists are boycotting Turki-Ajarbaijan

Travel companies have issued advisory
Earlier, many online travel booking companies had issued advisory for their customers. Ezmitrip said that avoid traveling to Turkas and Azerbaijan or go when it is very important. Because both countries have supported Pakistan in the conflict between Pahalgam attack and India and Pakistan.

Cox & Kings stopped travel booking for three countries
Another travel booking brand Cox & Kings has temporarily removed all new booking options for Azerbaijan, Turki and Uzbekistan. The company’s director Karan Aggarwal said that the decision has been taken to protect the national interest and principles. Until the Jio Political Status clarification is not there, passengers need to be restrained.
