Nowadays many people are falling prey to mental stress, anxiety, depression i.e. depression. There are many reasons for work pressure, home tension etc., due to increasing stress, but the more mentally you will suffer from depression, the more it is not good for you. Depression at times also increases the risk of dementia. A recent study has revealed that if someone has depression, then he increases the risk of brain related disease dementia. Especially this risk was seen in middle age as well as people aged 50 years or older.
What is dementia?
Dementia is a serious disease, in which a person’s memory, thinking and understanding ability weakens. More than 5.7 million people worldwide are suffering from this disease. At present, there is no cure for it, so it is very important that we identify the reasons in time and try to remove them which can increase the risk of dementia.
This study found that the relationship between depression and dementia is very complex. This includes late swelling, non -functioning of parts of the brain, changes in blood vessels, changing some essential protein or factor in the brain, imbalance of chemicals called neurotransmitters, etc. In addition, genetic and our everyday behavior can also increase the risk of depression and dementia.
According to the study published in Journal Euclinical Medicine, it is very important to identify and treat depression in every round of life. We should not take it lightly.
Jacob Brain of Mental Health Institute and School of Medicine at Nottingham University, UK, said, “Government and Health Department should pay special attention to brain health, especially on preventing diseases. It is necessary that people can get good and right mental health treatment easily.”
Some earlier studies have found that people who have depression are more likely to have dementia later. But it is still not clear at what age depression increases the biggest risk. Some people say that if the depression starts at the middle age i.e. 40-50 years of age, then some have more effects, while some believe that if depression is in old age i.e. 60 years or above, the danger also increases.
