Justice Kathpalia said- It is very sad that a woman lost her life in such a gruesome manner 7 years ago, her body was cut into pieces, but she could not be identified till date. The court also reprimanded the police for showing negligence in this case.
Actually, Manjit Kerketta had demanded bail on the basis that he has been in jail since 2018, but it has not been confirmed so far that the murder has happened. Because the woman Soni alias Chhoti was sent to jail on charges of murder. Whose body was found could not be identified.
Manjeet said that he was made only this base accused, he was last seen with Soni. The police arrested Manjeet on 17 May 2018.
5 complaints filed in the case
The police had filed five complaints in the case. During the hearing, the court said- It was not only the investigator (police), but also the responsibility of senior police officers that they had to monitor the investigation. But it seems that he did not work hard.
At the same time, the other party opposed Manjeet’s bail. The court said that the accused cannot be deprived of freedom just because the victim could not be identified. The court said- The bail plea of the accused is accepted and directed that the accused should be released on bail immediately.
