- Keep water for 6-8 hours in a copper vessel.
- 1-2 glasses of copper water is sufficient throughout the day.
- Drinking more copper water can be harmful.
According to Ayurvedic experts, water should be kept in a copper vessel for at least 6 to 8 hours so that the copper ions present in it can be found in the water and the body can get maximum benefit. This is the reason that it is often advisable that water should be filled with water in copper glass or lotus at night and drank it on an empty stomach in the morning. This process is called “copper water therapy”. This water helps in removing the toxins present in the body and also intensifies metabolism.
Regular intake of copper water strengthens the digestive system, detoxes the liver and kidney, and increases immunity. It also helps in weight loss because it improves the process of breaking fat. In addition, it is rich in anti-bacterial properties that protect the body from infection. Skin related problems such as pimples and freckles can also be reduced.
But drinking more can be harmful
Although copper water is beneficial, it should be drunk in limited quantity. It has also been told in Ayurveda that one or two glasses of copper water is sufficient throughout the day. Excessive copper can cause copper toxicity in the body, which can cause problems like vomiting, headache, stomach pain, liver damage and kidney effects. Therefore, never keep all the water of the day in a copper vessel. Apart from this, always keep the copper vessel clean and dry. From time to time, keep cleaning it with lemon, salt or vinegar so that the dirt and oxidation on the pot can be removed. Never keep citrus or acidic substances such as lemonade, tamarind, buttermilk or juice in a copper vessel because it can dissolve more copper which is harmful to health.
