Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships: The Commonwealth weightlifting championship held in Ahmedabad in India won a total of 13 medals in the senior category, including three gold, seven silver and three bronze medals.

Samoa’s Euniyara Sipaya won the gold medal by lifting 261 kg (111 kg in snatch and 150 kg in clean and jerk), while Commonwealth Games medalist Nigeria’s Mary Taivo Osizo won a total of 231 kg (103 kg in snatch and 128 kg) in Jark. In the category of men’s more than 110 kg, Lovepreet won a bronze medal by lifting a total of 380 kg (175 kg in snatch and 205 kg in clean and jerk). He lagged behind New Zealand’s David Litty (397 kg; 220 kg in snatch and 220 kg in jerk).
Tokyo Olympic silver medalist Mirabai Chanu won the gold medal in the women’s 48 kg category on the first day of the tournament and qualified for the Commonwealth Games to be held next year. Rishikant Singh (60 kg), N. Ajit (71 kg) and V Ajay Babu (79 kg) also confirmed their place for the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
