Las Vegas: Indian stars Arjun Arigasi and R Pragyanand finished sixth and seventh in the Freestyle Chess Grand Slam here, while the US Grandmaster Lavon Aronian won the title.

Aronian defeated compatriot Hans Moke Neemon 1.5–0.5 in the final of the tournament. World number one player Norway’s Magnus Carlson defeated Hikaru Nakamura of America to finish third.

Arjun suffered a 0–2 defeat to Fabiano Caruana of America, while Pragyanand defeated another American Wesley So 1.5–0.5 to finish seventh among the last eight participants in the competition.

Aronion won the tournament by $ 200000 while Arjun earned a prize money of $ 40000. Pragyanananda also ensured that he did not stay behind and after winning the final round, he named a total amount of $ 30000.
