Chennai Chess Tournament: Arjun Arigasi stopped Vincent Camere on a draw

Chennai: Indian Grandmaster Arjun Arigaisi on Tuesday stopped the on top of the table in the sixth round of the Chennai Grand Masters Chess tournament here.

After this draw, German Grandmaster Cammer retained the top with a point in the masters’ class table. Arigasi is behind them.

America’s 22 -year -old Grandmaster Upender Liang stopped India’s 18 -year -old Pranav V on a draw in the emerging players.

In the tournament, till now the invincible Cammer tried to dominate by starting an aggressive start against Arigasi, but the Indian player did not allow him to dominate with a great protection.

Vidit Gujarati and Aneesh Giri’s bet was drawn in the masters category, while Jordan Van Forest won a brilliant victory against Nihal Sarin with black pieces. Karthikeyan Murali also played a draw with Ray Robson.

In the Challengers category, the M Praneesh Table was successful in stopping the unstoppable order of Abhimanyu Puranik. Due to this, the race, which is looking unilaterally for the title, now turned into an exciting match of three players.

With this victory, Praneesh has come to the top jointly with Abhimanyu. After the victory over Aryan Chopra, Leon Luke Mendona is also at the top of the table with both of them.

GM Harika Dronavalli defeated compatriot Vaishali Vaishali Rameshbabu in the women’s Grandmaster, while Adhiban Bhaskaran defeated Deeptayan Ghosh and improved the ranking. The match between PA Inian and Harshvardhan GB was a draw.

This is the third session of Chennai Grand Masters with a prize money of one crore rupees. In this, 10-10 players in the Masters and Challengers category play in round robin format. The winner of the masters category gets Rs 25 lakh while the winner of the Challengers category gets seven lakh rupees and 2026 masters.

This tournament also offers FIDE (global operator of chess) points, in which Masters Champions get 24.5 marks for Candidates Qualification (2026.
