Dr. Rajiv Bahl, Director General of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), says that Kovid-19 infection is increasing in India, but there is nothing to worry, because it is not serious. The government is actively monitoring cases.
How many cases have come up so far
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has released a data, according to which there are 1,009 cases of Kovid in India, in which cases have been registered in Kerala (430), Maharashtra (209) and Delhi (104). Apart from this, there have also been seven deaths in Maharashtra (4), Kerala (2) and Karnataka (1). Bahl said that the number of infection has increased and we are keeping a close watch on it.
Actually, the number is increasing and increasing, but there is nothing to worry or fear, because so far the percentage of serious cases in all Kovid cases is generally low.
According to the latest data from the Indian SARS-Cov-2 Genomics Consortium, established under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, NB.1.8.1 and LF7, JN.1 Covid variant, are responsible for the increase in SARS-Kov-2 cases in the country.
This variant can dodge
Bahl said that all these-variants can dodge natural or vaccine-inspired previous immunity. However, his capacity is less than the previous Omikron and other variants.
He said that Union Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava held a meeting to review the status of Kovid. DGHS and ICMR participated in it.
He further said that we are keeping an eye on the situation very closely and will keep further. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had said that guidelines have been issued to all hospitals and the government is keeping a close watch on the Kovid matters.
Last week, the Delhi government issued an advisory regarding Kovid-19, asking the hospitals in the national capital to ensure the availability of beds, oxygen, medicines and vaccines. Advisory said, “Hospitals should ensure preparation in terms of availability of beds, oxygen, antibiotics, other medicines and vaccines. All equipment like ventilator, BI-PAP, oxygen consentor and PSA should be in operation.”
