The incident occurred at around 1:38 pm on January 27, 2024, when Gaganpreet Singh, who is running a red colored Ford Mustang owned by Jagdeep Singh, hit a person on the university drive. The victim was identified as Jason Albert Gray, a father and husband. After the collision, Gaganpreet did not stop the car and dragged the gray for about one and a half kilometers.
Eyewitnesses of the incident called 911 and told that a person was lying on the road and a car hit him. Shortly after, he saw that the same car was dragging the gray. Gaganpreet and Jagdeep stopped the car at some distance, removed the body of the gray and then escaped from the spot.

Legal proceedings And punishment
Gaganpreet Singh accepted allegations of dangerous driving in Surrey Provincial Court on 6 January 2025 and Jagdeep Singh on 7 February 2025, failure to stay after the accident and molestation of the body. Both were sentenced on 22 May 2025, with Gaganpreet received three years in jail and three years driving ban, while Jagdeep got a four -year jail and three -year driving ban.
Victim family Reaction to
Jason Gray’s wife said in her statement in court, “She treated my husband like a garbage and thrown her on the road.” He also told that Gray, who was an indigenous person, could not get the funeral according to his cultural traditions. The family described the incident as “unimaginable and cruel”.
Submission process
The court has made it clear that the sentence will be submitted after completion. Both came to Canada on study visa. The Canada Border Services Agency has started the process of deployment against both the culprits, as they were in Canada on international student visa.
