Dr. Sonia Rawat, director of the Preventive Health and Wellness Department of Sir Gangaram Hospital in New Delhi, told News18 That diabetes is not an infectious disease. It does not spread in contact with someone, eating food together, using the same utensils or clothes or contact with blood. There are two types of diabetes- type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition, in which the body’s immune system attacks the cells making insulin. At the same time, type 2 diabetes is due to poor lifestyle, obesity, stress and genetic reasons.

The doctor said that diabetes is not caused by viruses or bacteria. It does not transfer to any type of blood transfusion or contact to another person. If the blood of a diabetic person is offered to a healthy person, then that person will not have diabetes. Diabetes is completely non-commercial disease. This is a metabolic disorder, which is due to not working properly in the body. It cannot be transferred through blood, because it does not include any infections agent. If a person does not have diabetes, then he cannot become diabetic only by offering blood.

According to experts, diabetes is a lifestyle disease. Eating too much junk food, not exercising, lack of sleep, stress, obesity and family history are the major reasons for this. Type 2 diabetes especially occur in those who are physically active and whose food habits are unbalanced. At the same time, type 1 diabetes usually comes out in childhood or adolescence and there are genetic reasons behind it. In this way it is clear that diabetes does not spread by blood and it is not a disease of untouchability in any way. A balanced diet, regular exercise and timely examination to avoid diabetes are the most effective remedies.
