New Delhi. BSNL’s 5G service may be launched next month, August. The company has made an important announcement on its official X handle for August, in which they have expressed their intention to improve the digital experience of users. The launch of 5G service of government telecom provider can increase competition for private companies such as Airtel, Jio and Vodafone Idea. Because BSNL services are usually more economical than private providers, this can reduce the users of these companies. Posted on the official X handle of BSNL India: “This August, the nest level digital expires is presenting the nest level Digital Experience! Get ready for a game-changing digital journey with BSNL.”
Monthly review meetings
The government has started efforts to revive BSNL and MTNL. Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia told Parliament that a review meeting for BSNL was held for the first time in the Indian telecom sector, in which both Union Minister of Communications and Union Minister of State attended.
Moving forward, monthly review meetings will be held, which will be chaired by Minister of State. The quarterly review meetings, however, will be held under the chairmanship of Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. The company has been instructed to increase its average revenue per user (ARPU). These review meetings will monitor mobile service innovation, decentralized decision-making, and circle-specific progress.
Meanwhile, VI is in the process of launching its 5G service, which is now available in many areas. At the same time, BSNL is working on improving its 4G service and is also preparing to start 5G service. Despite these efforts, both companies are struggling to maintain their customers, as many people are turning to other providers. In June, Vodafone Idea (VI) lost over 2,17,000 customers, while BSNL lost about 3,06,000 customers.
Currently, VI has around 204 million customers, and BSNL has about 90 million customers. As a result, the market share of BSNL has come down slightly to 7.82 percent to 7.78 percent, while VI’s share has also come from 17.61 percent to 17.56 percent.
