The first cherry cargo train will run from Katra railway station in Jammu and Kashmir on June 3. Through this, for the first time, fresh and early bad fruits will start from the railway.
Senior railway officials appropriate Singhal said that this initiative has been started after discussion with Horticulture Department and Fruit Producer Organizations. This will also reduce the burden of road traffic and will be able to reach the fruits that deteriorate quickly on time. He informed that a VP (full parcel van) will be added to the goods train which will have 24 tonnes of cherry consignment. This cargo will reach Mumbai in 30 hours.
