Mrs. Indira Gandhi was the Prime Minister of the country during the 1984 Operation Bluestar. The operation started to kill Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala was commanded by Major General Kuldeep Brar.
On the anniversary of Operation Bluestar on 1 June 1984 in Punjab, the state BJP put a post on social media and paid tribute to those who were killed on the first day in this action.

The party also put some pictures related to Operation Bluestar in this post. These included the photo of the damaged Akal Takht as well as the damage to the army tanks entered in the Golden Temple premises.
Punjab BJP wrote in the post- ‘1 June 1984, Saka Neela Tara (Operation Blue Star), the Congress government’s heartbreaking on the first day of the attack on Darbar Sahib by the Congress government heartily salute the martyrs.’

BJP described Operation Blue Star as a black and painful chapter in history and criticized the then Congress government.

Jathedar urged to celebrate Shaheedi Week
In the midst of this development, acting Jathedar Giani Kuldeep Singh Gargaj of Akal Takht has appealed to the Sikh community to be celebrated as ‘Shaheedi Week’ from June 1 to June 6. He said, “The Sikh community could never forget Operation Bluestar. It was a time when the Sikh devotee gathered in the Golden Temple to remember the martyrdom of Shri Guru Arjan Dev Ji, and then the Indian Army attacked there.”
Jathedar Gadgaj said that many people including Jarnail Singh Bhindran, Amrik Singh, Baba Thara Singh, General Shabeg Singh were martyred in this action. He appealed to Sikh institutions and gurudwara arrangements to organize Gurmat Samagam, Seminar, and Debate this week and get Shri Sukhmani Sahib recited.

Expressed concern for Sikh community
He also expressed concern that “Some forces are secretly trying to stop the Sikh community from remembering the 1984 martyrs, but our community has always remembered its martyrs respectfully and will continue to do further.”
Akali Dal also released the video of operation
Here, Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) has also released a video on the occasion in which the Congress government has been accused of surrounded the Golden Temple campus from the army without any warning and opened fire from noon to night, killing several innocent devotees.
