Bhubaneswar Engineer Flat Cash Case Update | Odisha News | 2 crore cash recovered from the engineer’s house in Odisha: Seeing the vigilance team, throwing bundles of notes from the window; Red continues on 7 locations

The Vigilance Department in Odisha on Friday raided 7 locations of a chief engineer. During this time more than 2 crore cash was recovered from his two houses. Gold ornaments and expensive clothes worth millions of rupees have also been found.

On seeing the Vigilance team, the Chief Engineer started throwing a bundle of 500 rupee notes from his flat window in Bhubaneswar. Officials have recovered the bundle of notes. Machines have to be resorted to to count cash. The counting of notes continues.

The engineer has been identified as Baikunth Nath Sarangi, an employee of the Odisha government. He works in the Rural Development Department of the state. He is suspected of having disproportionate assets. Officials said that search is going on in the engineer’s residence and office.

The engineer threw out the bundles of notes from his flat window as soon as he saw the Vigilant team.

Gold has also been found from the Chief Engineer’s flat. However, its price has not been stated yet.

Apart from hands, the Vigilance team is also counting the money with the note counting machine.

The recovered cash has mostly bundles of ₹ 500. Some ₹ 200, ₹ 100 and ₹ 50 bundles are also included.

1-1 crore cash received from flat and ancestral housing The official statement said that the Anti Corruption Wing of Odisha Police raided the locations of the Chief Engineer in Bhubaneswar, Angul and Puri. Around Rs 1 crore cash was recovered from his flat in Bhubaneswar, while Rs 1.1 crore was received from ancestral residence in Angul.

Baikunth Nath Sarangi is accused of possessing disproportionate assets. Vigilance Special Judge in Angul issued a search warrant against him, on the basis of which raids are being conducted simultaneously. Vigilance detected a two -storey house in Kardagadia in Angul, flats at Bhubaneswar and Pipili in Puri district.

After this, a team of 26 police officers raided their 7 locations. The team consisted of eight DSP, 12 inspectors and six assistant sub -inspectors. Apart from the ancestral house of Sarangi in Angul, the houses of relatives have also been searched.

The search was conducted at the office of Chief Engineer at RD Planning and Road in Bhubaneswar. Many videos of the cash being recovered have appeared on social media. There is a pile of notes on the floor. Officers sitting nearby can be seen counting cash.
