New Delhi: South superstar Kamal Haasan has come into controversies after his statement during the launch of thugs life audio in Chennai, where he made a statement linking the origin of Kannada language to Tamil. The words said by the actor went viral immediately and pro -Kannada groups in Karnataka have reacted strongly to this.
Kamal Haasan said, Kannada is born from Tamil
Addressing the people present in the program, Kamal started his speech with ‘Ure Urave Tameez’, which means ‘My life and my family is Tamil language’. After this, he said, ‘Actor Shivrajkumar is a member of my family living in another state. So they are here. So when I started my speech, I said ‘My life and my family is Tamil.’ Your language (Kannada) is born from Tamil. So you are also included in that line.

People of Karnataka condemned Kamal Haasan’s statement
Many people did not like this statement in Karnataka. Groups like Kannada Rakshana Vedike condemned Kamal Haasan’s comments and described him as derogatory towards Kannada language and culture. Praveen Shetty, a group leader, said, ‘Kamal Haasan said that Tamil is better than Kannada and Kannada is better only when Tamil is born. We are warning Kamal, do you need business in Karnataka? And still insulting Kannada. He further said, ‘Today you were in the state and we were ready to apply black ink you and you ran away. We warn you, if you talk against the people of Karnataka and the state, there will be protests against you. We warn you, your film will be banned in Karnataka.
Kamal Haasan’s film thug life demands ban in Karnatar
According to reports, the activists had gathered at a place in Bangalore, where Kamal had to propagate the thug life, and was planning to protest by throwing black ink. However, he later claimed that the actor came to know about planning and he did not attend, left before. Meanwhile, Karnataka BJP chief BY Vijayendra has called Kamal Haasan ‘ungrateful’ for a statement on Kannada. In a sharp tweet, he wrote that the state has a debt on the superstar.
Sonu Nigam Kannada dispute
Significantly, some time ago, Sonu Nigam also came to the center of Kannada language dispute. At an event held at the East Point College of Engineering and Technology in Bangalore, the singer reprimanded a fan, allegedly demanding a Kannada song.
