Asian Shooting Championship: Indian shooters continue, Elavenil Valarivan targeted gold, India on top

New Delhi. Indian shooters continue to perform brilliantly at the 16th Asian Championship. In this competition released in Shimkant, Kazakhstan, Indian shooter Elvenil Valarivan continued his brilliant performance and won the gold medal in the women’s 10m air rifle event on Friday. This 26 -year -old Tamil Nadu scored a score of 253.6 in the final. He has won several gold medals in the World Cup and has also topped the World Championship.

China’s Shinlu Peng won a silver medal with 253 points while Yunji Quon (231.2) of Korea won the bronze medal. This is the first individual medal in Valarivan in this competition. Earlier, he won silver and bronze medals in team events. Mehuli Ghosh, another Indian player participating in this event, finished fourth in the final of eight shooters with 208.9 points.

Elavenil Valarivan qualified for the final while finishing eighth with 630.7 points. Ghosh was ranked tenth with 630.3 points, but he got a place in the finals due to the only ranking points of India’s two other players Arya Borsse (633.2) and Sonam Muskar (630.5), who performed better than him.

Valarivan’s medal is the second senior individual gold medal for India in this continental competition, where the country is at the top of the table thanks to the strong performance of its junior shooters. Anantjit Singh Naruka gave India the first senior gold medal in the men’s skeet event. Manu Bhaker, who won two medals at the Olympics, won a bronze medal in the women’s 10m air pistol event.
