New Delhi. A big controversy has emerged in the Tamil Nadu Premier League. Ravichandran Ashwin, the captain of Dindigul Dragons and one of the biggest players of the tournament, has been accused by the ball tampering by Sekam Madurai Panthers. Ashwin was accused of ball tampering in the 11th match of the TNPL 2025 season on June 14 when both teams were face to face and Dindigul easily defeated Madurai with 9 wickets and 45 balls remaining. However, after the match, Madurai Panthers CEO D Pooja wrote a letter to TNPL accusing Ashwin of tampering with the ball. He claimed that the all -rounder used some kind of chemical on the towel to tamper with the ball and provide unfair advantage to his team. D. Pooja wrote, “A serious case of ball tampering came to light during our recent match against Dindigul Dragons. Despite repeated warnings, Dindigul’s team tampered with the ball, they used a towel that seemed to be treated with chemicals. Our technical team bowlers and fielders have also been testing other possible ways. We will present a detailed report of our findings. “
Although TNPL gives a franchise 24 hours to complain about any match, he has accepted Madurai’s appeal. They will set up an independent committee to determine whether Madurai has any reliable evidence of Ashwin’s alleged wrongdoings. If it is revealed that the allegations are false, Madurai will be banned.
TNPL CEO Prasanna Kannan said, “He has filed a complaint, which we have accepted. Although he has to file any complaint within 24 hours of the game, we have still accepted it and asked them to present evidence of their allegations. If we get any truth in his allegations, we will form a free committee. We will form a independent committee. Without adequate proofs, we will make such allegations against any player and another. If you do not provide evidence, then proper restrictions will be imposed on Madurai. ” On the use of the towel for the ball tampering, Kannan said, “He has to dry the ball only using the towel provided by TNPL and whenever the ball takes a six or soon after being out and over-break, the umpires regularly check the ball and they will not find any problem in the ball during the said match, yet all the issues will be examined once.
