When Anushka Sharma took the name of a vegetable, Amitabh Bachchan made fun of it with Tapak. He said that these vegetables are also a food. He jokingly took a pinch by not describing him as a food items. The great hero said that there is jackfruit, bitter gourd and pumpkin, it seems as if it is not a food. Don’t know how you eat. Someone else should ask how to tolerate you. However, Anushka insisted and said, I like these three vegetables a lot. My mother makes jackfruit vegetables very good which I like very much. In the end, Amitabh Bachchan also said this, although pumpkin, bitter gourd and jackfruit are rich in nutrients and it can be a good option to include them in daily diet. But is these three vegetables so bad, the Indian Express spoke to the Consultant Dietician Kanika Malhotra about this.

Medicinal properties in these three vegetables

1. Jackfruit-According to Kanika Malhotra, jackfruit is full of potassium, which helps in muscle function and control. Eating jackfruit also strengthens heart muscles. It also helps in maintaining the balance of sodium in the body, whose imbalance can damage the arteries and heart. Jackfruit is beneficial in arthritis and bones related problems because it contains high amounts of calcium. Consumption of jackfruit makes bones strong. Jackfruit also contains iron which helps in fighting anemia and curing metabolism. It also contains vitamin C, magnesium and copper which help improve blood quality.

2. Pumpkin-Pumpkin is being called superfood nowadays. Calories are very low in pumpkin but it is rich in essential nutrients. A cup ripe mashed pumpkin provides about 49 calories which becomes a good option for those who pay attention to weight. It contains good amounts of vitamins A and C, potassium, fiber and antioxidants. Pumpkin is a good source of beta-carotene, which the body changes in vitamin A. Its intake leads to immunity boost. It brings glow to the skin. Vitamin C present in pumpkin helps in collagen production. At the same time, potassium balances blood pressure. Pumpkin is high in fiber, which improves digestion. Consuming pumpkin is very beneficial for those who want to lose weight. Pumpkin also controls blood sugar.

3. Bitter gourd – Bitter gourd is bitter but it is a treasure of medicinal properties. Bitter gourd contains vitamin A, vitamin C, folate, potassium and iron. Consuming bitter gourd reduces blood sugar. This helps in controlling diabetes. Due to high fiber in bitter gourd, digestion is cured and constipation is relieved. It contains vitamin C which strengthens the immune system and increases the ability to fight infection. It contains antioxidants that fight free radicals and help in becoming collagen, which makes the skin glow. Bitter gourd has more fiber, which makes the stomach feel full and helps in reducing weight. It boosts the liver function. This helps in cleaning the body with toxic elements.
