Alkraj reached the final of the French Open.
New Delhi. The defending champion Carlos Alkaraz got luck on Friday. He reached the final of the second Grand Slam French Open of the year. Alkaraz reached the title match after retiring in the middle of the fourth set due to the injury of Lorenzo Mussetti in the match that lasted two hours and 25 minutes. The score was 4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-0, 2-0, in favor of Alkaraz when Mustetti retired due to injury. Alkaraz has now become the fifth youngest player to reach five Grand Slam finals in Open Era. Alkraj, who achieved this feat, has become the third active male player from Spain to join the Elite list with veteran Novak Djokovic (37) and Daniel Medvedev (6).
The 23-year-old Musti was behind 5–0 after 16 minutes of the third set, when he called the trainer. Alkaraj broke the service of Mussetti in the next game and won the set in 21 minutes. In this set, Alkaraj won 24 out of 29 points. There was a lot of trouble in running in Mosetti Court. He called the trainer again. Alkaraja broke his service in the fourth set and took a 2–0 lead, after which Musetti slowly moved towards the net and Alkaraj hugged him.
Alkaraja made 16 mistakes in the first set which Mussetti made her name. Alkaraja said, ‘The first two sets were really difficult. I got relief when I won the second set. In the final, Alkaraj will have the challenge of world ranked top player Yanik Sinner or 24 -time Grand Slam Champion Serbia’s Novak Djokovic.
