Mumbai. Abhinav Bindra’s biopic, who won the gold medal at the Olympics in shooting, has been canceled. This film was announced in the year 2017. In the film, Abhinav’s character was to play Harshvardhan Kapoor, son of Anil Kapoor. Anil was also a co-producer to this film. He was also going to play the role of Abhinav’s father. Fans were very excited about this film, but everyone’s excitement has lost its water. This biopic was based on Abhinav Bindra’s autobiography ‘A Shot at History: My Obssiv Journey to Olympic Gold’.
In his book, Abhinav Bindra has written his best journey in the game of shooting and his historic victory in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Abhinav Bindra is the first Indian to win gold at the Olympics. Given his achievement and disciplined, introspective personality, this story was fitting into an impressive sports drama.
Harshvardhan Kapoor was also very excited about this project. He said in an interview with the Times of India, “I want Abhinav Bindra biopic to be a theater. Harshvardhan was not only to play the lead role, but was also actively involved in the production process with his father.
Abhinav Bindra’s biopic not fit for the film
However, despite years of efforts in the team’s commitment and pre-production, things did not fit. A source close to the project revealed, “The script did not have the drama and energy that fits it to convert it into a film. Best of all, it could work as a document.
Harshvardhan Kapoor confirmed
Over the years, the updates on the film have been coming out from time to time, which often caused new interest and speculation. Anil Kapoor had assured the first fans that the film is still on growth. He told in an interview to Mid-Day, “The film is being made. Pre-production is going on. It is going to be a special film.” But despite those efforts and assurances, creative and narrative challenges remained. Now, Harshvardhan Kapoor has confirmed the cancellation of the project. Talking to Bombay Times, he clearly said, “Yes, Bindra biopic has been canceled.”
