Mithun fight
During the shooting of the film, Sushmita Sen worked in an intimate scenes with Mithun Chakraborty. At that time it was told that after the shooting of this scene, she started feeling uncomfortable and left the crying set. He complained to director Kalpana Lajmi that Mithun had touched him wrongly. Kalpana explained to Sushmita that this incident was a mistake. Later, Sushmita again considered the matter and felt that she had reacted more than necessary. The issue was resolved personally with Mithun Chakraborty. Both never spoke publicly about this incident.

Controversy with Anuj Sahni
During the promotion of the film ‘Chingari’, Sushmita also had a fight with another co-star Anuj Sahni. Anuj, who is seen playing the role of a postman and falls in love with Basanti’s character. He praised his kissing scene with him in an interview. Sushmita became angry when she said that 36 retakes were taken for this scene. Along with this, he pulled his hand completely from the promotion of the film. The director regretted that the film’s two -month promotion has been damaged due to this controversy. Although Anuj later apologized, Sushmita was not sure.

The film ‘Chingari’ highlighted issues like oppression and misuse of power in rural India. Mithun Chakraborty has played the role of a priest who misuses power in society.
