Sanjay Dutt’s film ‘Munnabhai MBBS’ was rejected by Shah Rukh Khan, Vivek Oberoi and Anil Kapoor. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the film brought Sanjay’s career to new heights.
As such, Sanjay Dutt has worked in many superhit films in his career. But there is a blockbuster which was rejected by stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Vivek Oberoi to Anil Kapoor.
But when Sanjay Dutt did that film. So it proved to be a jackpot for his career. In South too, its remakes were made in many languages and all of them proved to be hits.
This is ‘Munnabhai MBBS’. Which was written and directed by Rajkumar Hirani. The film, which came in the year 2003, once again strengthened the roots of Sanjay Dutt’s career. In which his father Sunil Dutt was also seen. Apart from this, Arshad Warsi, Rohini and Gracie Singh were also part of the film.
‘Munnabhai MBBS’ was not only liked by critics and fans but also received the National Award for the Best Popular film in 2004. In the beginning, she also reached Shah Rukh Khan, R Madhavan, Anil Kapoor and Vivek Oberoi but then they rejected.
The budget of ‘Munnabhai MBBS’ was Rs 12 crore and it collected Rs 33 crore. The film became so hit that in 2006 its sequel ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’ also came and that too proved to be a super hit. Munna Bhai MBBS is said to be inspired by the Hollywood film ‘Patch Adams’, in which Robin Williams played the lead role.
Now let’s come to South Remke, so ‘Munnabhai MBBS’ was a remake of ‘Shankar Dada MBBS’ in 2004, which was Chiranjeevi and Sonali Bendre. The film was a superhit.
The same year, ‘Colo King MBBS’ made in Tamil, in which Kamal Haasan was in the lead role. It was also a hit. In 2007, ‘Uppi Dada MBBS’ made in Kannada, which contained Upendra, but the film did not do anything special.
In 2017, Sinhala language in Sri Lanka ‘Dr. Navarian ‘, which had Ranjan Ramnayake and this film proved to be a hit there too. In this way, this film was no less than a treasure for wherever remake of ‘Munnabhai MBBS’ made a remake.
