During the hearing, CJI said that this is a very small case, it should not be made so big.
The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed the PIL (PIL) of a lawyer, seeking action against senior Maharashtra officials. The petitioner alleged that these officials violated the protocol during the first Mumbai visit of Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gawai.
A bench of Chief Justice Gavai and Justice Augustine George Christ described the petition as ‘Publicity Interest Litigation’ and a 7 -year -old petitioner advocate Shailendra Mani Tripathi fined ₹ 7,000, which he would have to submit to the Legal Services Authority.

CJI told the petitioner- you want to get your name printed in the newspaper
During the hearing, CJI said, ‘This is a very small case, it should not be made so big. The court has already made it clear through the press release that this issue should be abolished here.
He told the petitioner, ‘You just want to get your name printed in the newspaper. If you had thought about the dignity of the post, you would have known that I had appealed to end the matter here. This petition will be dismissed with fine.
The bench said that CJI had already publicly spoke on the matter and it was not a serious issue, so it should not be exaggerated.
CJI said- All three officers have apologized
CJI said, ‘The three officers were present at the airport till I left and they also apologized in public. A press note was also issued to end the case. It is not a matter of a particular person, but a matter of dignity of the post. We should not make sesame palm. ‘
The CJI further said that there is no point in continuing the debate in the court regarding this matter as it has already resolved. This only attracts unnecessary attention. The post of Chief Justice should not be dragged into unnecessary controversies.
