New DelhiSonu Nigam gave a controversial statement on Kannada language during a concert in Bengaluru, due to which his difficulties had increased. Singer linked the demand for singing in Kannada language with the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, after which the local people got angry on him. An FIR was also registered on Sonu Nigam in this case. Now Bangalore Police has reached Mumbai to record Sonu’s statement in this case.
The Bangalore Police team, which includes an inspector and two other officers of Avallly Police Station, is going to Mumbai so that Sonu Nigam can be questioned. They will record his statement and the entire process will be captured in the video. According to sources, the senior official has given instructions and the inquiry will be according to the guidelines prescribed by the Karnataka High Court.
Sonu Nigam got relief from court
The Karnataka High Court had earlier directed that no strict action will be taken against Sonu Nigam till the next hearing. The court had also banned the filing of final report in the case. Additional State Public Prosecutor B.N. Jagdisha informed the court that no drastic steps would be taken if Sonu Nigam cooperates in the police investigation. Earlier, Sonu Nigam had filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court, demanding the cancellation of the FIR lodged against him.
There was a ruckus on the demand for singing Kannada
An FIR was lodged against Sonu Nigam on 3 May in Bengaluru for a controversial remarks, which he made during a concert in the city on April 27, 2025. In fact, during the singer’s concert, a fan had demanded him to sing in Kannada, which, while rejecting, he linked the demand with the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April.
After this dispute increased, the people of Kannada film industry had raised their voice against Sonu Nigam. Due to this, Singer’s song was removed from the upcoming Kannada film. Along with this, the film maker had said that after this he will never work with Sonu Nigam in future.
