New Delhi. Elon Musk -owned company X has blocked 8,000 accounts on social media platforms in India at the behest of the Government of India. The company gave this information on Thursday. Along with this, it has also been said in the official statement from the company that the Government of India told him about it. After the Pahalgam terror attack, this announcement has been made amidst increasing tension between India and Pakistan, in which 26 people died.

X said in a statement that X has received executive orders from the Government of India, under which X will have to block more than 8,000 accounts in India, for which there is a provision of possible penalty including heavy fines and imprisonment on the local employees of the company. In the order given by the government, it is said that there is a need to block the account related to international news organizations and high-profile X users. Because some posts have violated local laws.

Not easy for x
The micro -blogging site has confirmed that it will restrict the access of listed accounts in India, but X also said that this number is not easy. The platform emphasized the need to maintain its services in India. With the having a platform in India, it is easy for Indians to reach information.

Pakistani YouTube channels and public celebrities also ban
On the other hand, the Government of India has banned many Pakistani YouTube channels in India. However, the Government of India had earlier banned more than a dozen Pakistani YouTube channels, including several news channels. These channels were accused of spreading stimulating content, especially after the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, this decision was taken due to increasing tension between India and Pakistan.

The access to the Instagram account of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan in India has also been limited. Many major Pakistani public personalities, such as actors Fawad Khan and Atif Aslam and cricketers Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shahid Afridi and Wasim Akram have been blocked or blacklisted on Indian platforms.
