Pinarayi Vijayan said that the Waqf bill violates the constitutional rights of Muslim minorities.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the Waqf Bill seems to be part of the plan to target minorities and eliminate them in a phased manner. He also feared to target Catholic churches.

The CM has expressed concern over an article of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) mouthpiece ‘Organizer’. It mentions the property of the church. However, the organizer has removed the article from its website.

Vijayan said, ‘It should be understood from the article of the organizer that the Sangh is now targeting the Catholic Church after the Waqf Bill is passed. This gives negative indications and shows the mentality of RSS. The article shows the union’s anti-religion majority communal spirit. ‘

On the Waqf bill, he also said that it violates the constitutional rights of Muslim minorities. A democratic and secular movement should be done in protest against this.

On April 4, Muslims protested in West Bengal, Gujarat, Bihar, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka, Assam after the prayers of Jumme in protest against the bill.

The article alleges that most of the land under Catholic institutions was acquired under the Indian Church Act 1927 during British rule. In this, it was written by quoting the government order of 1965 that the land leased during the colonial period will no longer be considered the property of the church.

AAP, Congress and Owaisi reached Supreme Court on Waqf Bill Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan has filed a petition in the Supreme Court on Saturday in protest against the Waqf Bill. Earlier on Friday, two petitions were filed in the Supreme Court. Congress MP from Kishanganj in Bihar Mohammad Javed and AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi filed this petition.

The bill was passed in the Lok Sabha-Rajya Sabha on April 2 and 3 after a 12–12-hour discussion. After passing the bill from the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, Congress MP Jairam Ramesh had said that the Congress will go to the Supreme Court. DMK of Tamil Nadu also said to file a petition.
