New Delhi. R Kasi Vishwnatham, the father of India’s star badminton double player Satwiksairaj Rankreddy, died of a heart attack on Thursday morning. Satwik’s father breathed his last on Thursday. A source close to the family informed PTI.
Satvik is currently in the national capital to participate in the 43rd PSPB inter unit badminton tournament. He was to receive the prestigious Khel Ratna Award on Thursday. His father also had to participate in this ceremony but he died before. His father was a retired physical education teacher.
A source close to the family said, “It is very sad and unfortunate that Satwik’s father died this morning.” This 24 -year -old player from Amlapuram will leave for his house in Andhra Pradesh this afternoon.
Satvik has created a strong male double pair with Chirag Shetty. The pair won the Gold Medal in the Asian Sports in 2022 and the Commonwealth Games and in the Asian Championship in 2023. The pair is the only Indian double pair to secure the number one position in the BWF World Rankings and win the BWF World Tour Super 1000 title.
