Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Emergency’ trapped in legal trouble, writer sent legal notice, many serious allegations made

New Delhi. Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut’s film ‘Emergency’ has once again been engulfed in controversies. Writer Kumi Kapoor has accused the production house Manikarnika Films Private Limited, OTT platform Netflix of deliberately and twisting the facts in a malicious manner.

According to PTI report, Kumi Kapoor has sent a legal notice to Manikarnika Films and claimed that Kangana Ranaut’s production house has violated the contract. He alleged that the film’s team misused his name and claimed that the film is based on his book ‘The Emergency: A Personal History’.

Accused of changing the story
Kumi Kapoor said, ‘My daughter is a lawyer, so on her advice I included two clauses. The makers had the entire artistic freedom to make a film, but nothing should be changed which is contrary to the publicly available historical facts.

Writer sent two legal notice
He said, ‘It was also said in the contract that the name and book of the writer for the promotion of the film cannot be used in advance without written consent. I was in Goa at that time and did not see the film, assuming that he would follow the contract. But they are still claiming that the film is based on the book. The writer revealed that he has sent two notices, but so far neither Kangana nor his production house has received any response to it.

The film made in just 5 crores, which shook the superstar’s king, became a blockbuster by earning 7 times profit

Facts tampering with facts
Kumi Kapoor said that while signing the agreement, he was told that a special chapter based on former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi would be reference in the film. However, when he saw that the title of the film is very similar to the name of his book, she was surprised. In the legal notice, he also claimed that there are many mistakes in Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Emergency’. Kumi Kapoor said, “The fact is that the emergency was not removed until Indira Gandhi lost the general election in March 1977.”

Writer sought compensation
Kumi Kapoor has demanded immediate compensation for his recruitment, emotional and financial loss due to the careless and Illugal behavior of the filmmakers. He said in the notice that, ‘If you fail to comply, then our client has the right to initiate legal proceedings for this serious violation of its rights.’

Film made on former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi
Let us tell you that in the ‘Emergency’ released on January 17, Kangana Ranaut has played the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Apart from this, he has also directed the film. Its story is based on the 21 -month emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi from 1975 to 1977. In this, stars like Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Vishak Nair were seen.
