Dhatura and its species
During a conversation with Local 18, Dr. Rajkumar (Ayush) of the Rejuvenation Herbal Clinic located in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand said that Dhatura is mainly known as a weed, which is found more than 9 species. Its flowers are white, purple and blue, which look very beautiful. But some of its species are highly poisonous. This is the reason that consumption or medicinal use of Dhatura should not be done without the advice of a specialist.
Dhatura has a special place in Hinduism. Shiva devotees believe that they are happy to offer Dhatura to Bholenath. According to religious beliefs, Dhatura is used to remove negative energy in worship and to achieve peace of mind.
Beneficial in heart disease: It is believed that dhatura can help in prevention of heart problems like heart attack.
shortness of breath: In traditional medicine, their smoke is taken by drying the leaves of Dhatura, which gives relief in problems like asthma and breathing.
Stress and mental peace: Dhatura helps to activate such hormones in the body, which reduce stress and help in calming the mind.
Traditionally, Dhatura has also been used in drugs. In some places it is used by mixing in smoking or alcohol with cannabis. However, its use as intoxication is dangerous for health and can prove to be fatal at times.
Precautions
Excessive vigilance is necessary while using Dhatura. Its excessive amounts can have toxic effects on the body, which can lead to confusion, fainting, epilepsy and even death. Ayurveda believes that Dhatura is only useful under limited quantity and doctor’s supervision.
