Sony Launches PlayStation Family App to Help Parents Manage Kids Gaming Habit

New Delhi. Sony, which is a prominent name in the premium consumer goods and is known for its famous gaming consolles (Playstation, commonly called PS), has launched a new parent control app for iOS and Android called Playstation Family. This app will allow parents to monitor and manage gaming activities on their children’s PS5 and PS4 console. This app has features like Play Time Limits, Purchase Controls, Content Films and Social Settings, which will give parents more control over their children’s online gaming.

What is PlayStation Family?
Playstation Family is a mobile-based expansion of parental controls of the playstation. Now parents can manage everything from their phone instead of using console only. This app supports guided onboarding so that the child’s playstation account can be easily created or linked and when the child starts playing the game, he immediately sends notifications.

The main features of the app
Play Time Control: Parents can set daily play time limits, can see weekly activity reports and approve or reject additional play time requests.

Palettes and expenses: This app allows parents to add funds to the child’s wallet, track balance and set the monthly spending limit on the playstation store.

Content filters: It is easy to restrict improper content with age-based presets, while individual settings can be customized.

Social and Privacy Settings: Parents can manage how children interact with friends and social features in the ecosystem of the playstation.

Playstation Family app is globally available

Sony has rejected that Playstation Family app is available globally on the app store and Google Play from September 11. The company also said that many new facilities will be added to future updates so that parents can use it for better security.

Parental control features and its benefits on other platforms
In recent years, tech companies like Google, Meta and OpenAI have introduced parent controls to protect minors from improper online content. Sony’s new app follows this trend, which makes the parents inform and set healthy boundaries on gaming.
