E-passport launched in India know how to apply what are the benefits

New Delhi. The Government of India has started e-passport facility in the country. With this facility, citizens from all over the country can apply for a new -age travel document. Let me tell you that before launching the e-Passport Seva, the government launched its pilot protection on 1 April 2024. After getting success in the pilot project, the government has now released it. However, at present, this facility is available in a few passport offices in India. But soon there is a plan to reach more and more centers. The e-passport can be identified by a small golden symbol printed under the title on the front cover, which makes it different from the normal passport.

What is e-Passport in India?
E-Passport in India is the advance version of traditional passports, including both physical and digital characteristics. It consists of a radio frequency identification (RFID) chip and antenna, which safely keeps personal information as well as biometric details such as fingerprints and digital photos.

From the outside, it can be identified by the symbol of small gold printed on the front cover just below the title of the passport. It is worth noting that e-Passport is not a replacement for standard passport, but is an advanced version with the aim of strengthening security, increasing transparency and making international travel process more easy and efficient.

Indian e-Passport has been designed with advanced technology for high security and sharp authenticity:
1. Integrated electronic chip in front cover
2. Biometric information like fingerprint, facial photo and iris scan include
3. Personal details like name, date of birth, passport number and other information
4. Additional protection for encrypted access with contactless chip
5. ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) Completely matches the guidelines
6. Reduces the possibility of fake or duplication

How to apply for e-passport:

– Go to the official passport service portal.
-Register a new account or sign in, then fill the e-passport application form.
– Select your nearest Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK).
-Pay online e-passport fee.
– Schedule an appointment at your chosen center.
