Instagram map feature
The new Instagram Map is like Snap Map of Snapchat, but there are some significant differences. This allows users to share their recent active location and find location-based content.
Users can find out through this feature that their friends and creators have shared or posted content from which location. The map feature also allows users to leave small messages, such as Notes feature.
Unlike Snapchat, the location feature of Instagram is only updated when the user opens the app; It does not track real-time location. This is different from the location-sharing feature of the app, which allows users to share their location through direct messages for one hour.
Instagram ‘Reposts’ feature
The new reposts feature is like a retweet of X (first Twitter) and a direct copy of a feature of Tiktok. It allows users to repost public reels and feed posts. The repost done will appear in a separate “reposts” tab on the user’s profile.
New ‘Friends’ tab Reels
Instagram has also launched a new Friends tab in Reels, which is already available in the US. In this tab, users can see likes, comments, reposts or public reels by their friends. Users who like private browsing can opt out by showing their interaction in this tab.
