Highlights
- In Britain, the birth of a child from three parents is considered to be the charisma of science.
- After this process is successful, genetic diseases can now be avoided.
- With the help of this technology in Britain, 8 children have been born so far. 1 is twins.
What is the need to be born from three parents
Three parents were needed because some people have serious genetic diseases related to mitochondria. In this, mitochondria is spoiled inside the cells. When there is a child from the parents with poor mitochondria, serious illness starts to occur in it. Muscles are very weak in such children born, brain diseases occur and there is a risk of heart failure. In many children, development slows down, they need wheelchairs and they die at an early age. Such children have a higher mortality rate. In about 5000 children, a child is born so. But with the help of this technique, such children will no longer be born because the bad mitochondria of these is already excluded. Now you understand what mitochondria is. Mitochondria is studied before the tenth grade. Energy is made in mitochondria itself. Therefore it is called the powerhouse of the cell. Now think for yourself that if there is a malfunction in mitochondria, then where will we get energy or strength. We do anything work, even if it is the job of thinking, energy is needed in it. Mitochondria makes this energy.
First of all, know where mitochondria is. The human body or any organism consists of innumerable cells. A cell is millions of times smaller than 1 millimeter. There is a nucleus or nucleus inside the cells and the rest of the place has many things. There is fluid outside the nucleus in which all these things float. Mitochondria also floats in this protoplasm. A cell contains about a hundred to 1000 aspires mitochondria. There are about 20,000 genes in the human body which are in the nucleus of cells. But the liquid around the nucleus contains thousands of mitochondrias which have 37 separate genes. This mitochondria has 37 separate genes. The malfunction in these genes can damage mitochondria. Man meets all his mitochondria from his biological mother. If there is a malfunction in mitochondria, then all the children of that woman have to face its effect. Now the challenge before scientists was how to remove this mitochondria. Now know its full process.

process
The Guardian According to the report of this, this entire process is done with IVF technology. First of all, the egg is pulled by the needle from the ovaries of the mother and placed in a saucer. After this, the father’s sperm is removed and fused with the egg. This makes this egg fertilized. Now this fertilized egg is called gygott. Keep in mind that gygot becomes a cell. It contains the genetic things that occur in the nucleus of the parents. Now the question of mitochondria is not in the nucleus, it does not live in protoplasm outside the nucleus. At the same time, a scientist is fertilized with sperm in a donor healthy woman. Then the entire nucleus is removed from the fertilized egg or gygot prepared from the real mother and inserts into the egg of the donor woman. Due to this, the bad mitochondria in the real mother remained there and the good mitochondria in the healthy woman became insert in the egg. On the other hand, all the real mother and father came to the nucleus. The child born from this will not have mitochondria disease. This process is called mitochondrial donation or mitochondrial replacement therapy (MRT).

Mitochondrial replacement therapy (MRT).
Doctors from all over the world were waiting
Two reports of the New England Journal of Medicine states that eight children have been born so far from this process who have been born from seven mothers. There is a twins. Five of these eight children are younger than one year, two are between one and two years old and one child is older than this. Doctors around the world were waiting for the birth and health of these children as Britain gave legal approval to this process in 2015. In 2017, a clinic of Newcastle University got the first license where this technology was introduced. The Nucle team said that 8 out of 22 women (36%) became pregnant after MDT and 16 out of 39 women (41%) became pregnant after PGT i.e. pre-implantation genetic testing. It is not clear why the success rate in both methods is different, but some mitochondrial defects can affect fertility.
