Congress targets government on Manrega

The Congress said on the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (Manrega)- The central government is working on ‘How to eliminate Manrega in three easy stages’.

Ramesh shared a screenshot of media report on X. It claimed that for the first time the government has set a limit of spending 60 percent of its annual allocation for the first half of FY 2025-26 under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).

Ramesh told- How the central government is finishing Manrega in 3 stages

Step i: Not giving adequate funding to MNREGA for a decade, causing the wage rate to remain stable and the pending payment amount continued to increase. Which has reached Rs 21,000 crore at the beginning of this financial year.

Step II: Applying monthly/quarterly expenditure scheme of the Ministry of Finance (Monthly/Quarterly Expendital Plan), under which the limit has been set to spend only 60% of the total budget of MNREGA in the first six months of the financial year.

Step iii: When there is no scope for the budget after the pending payment is not left, then the MNREGA almost stop giving work to the beneficiaries.

Ramesh said – first and second step has been implemented

Ramesh said that the central government had implemented the first and second step. The third step is now going to be revealed soon. He said that MNREGA wages should be increased to Rs 400 per day. Aadhaar based payment bridge system (ABPS) should not be made necessary. Wages should be paid within a statutory period of 15 days and any delay in payment should be made.

Jairam had said- Shah’s claim of peace in Kashmir-Manipur baseless

Jairam Ramesh on June 10 termed Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s claim to establish peace in Jammu and Kashmir and Northeast. He had said that the claims made about peace in Jammu and Kashmir-Manipur are absurd and baseless. These claims have actually been made to divert attention from their own major failures.

He had said that Manipur is still burning. The law and order situation here is bad. President’s rule in the state has proved to be a complete failure. The everyday life and livelihood of common people has created pain, disappointment and anger in them. Which can be felt everywhere. Read full news …
