New Delhi. Do you know that staying in air conditioning (AC) for a long time can have negative effects on your skin? In an episode of ‘Figure out with Raj Shamani’ podcast on April 1, dermatologist Manjot Marwah explained how AC affects the skin. He said that AC dries the air, which can cause dehydration and dryness in the skin, especially if you do not moisturize regularly. He also said that to combat the drying effects of AC, you should use a humidifier to add moisture in the air.
AC’s effect on your skin
Manjot said that AC creates a dry environment. Therefore, you should keep a humidified with it because there are two things in your skin – one is the balance of water and the other is the balance of oil. Oil balance is high in people with oily skin, while people with dry skin have low balance. The balance of water is independent of the balance of oil. Therefore, people with oily skin can also feel dryness on their skin if their balance of water is reduced. This can cause skin dehydrates. Therefore, when you live in AC, the skin is more likely to have dehydrates.
