Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced that Starlink has been licensed as the third satellite internet provider. This service will especially deliver the Internet in areas where it is difficult to establish a traditional network.

According to a report by Reuters, after approval from the Government of India, Starlink has now come closer to starting its satellite internet service in India. Now Starlink has become India’s third such company that has been allowed to provide satellite internet service.

Minister of Communications told about approval

The country’s Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia informed that now Starlink has been allowed to start service in India. He informed that earlier a license was also issued by the government to Bharti Airtel’s Onweb and Reliance’s Jio. Now by getting this license to Starlink, satellite internet services will take a new form in India.

He said that Starlink’s satellite connectivity is an important addition in the country’s telecom services. Earlier there were only fixed line connections, then mobile network came, then broadband and now optical fiber network has also arrived. Along with all this, now satellite connectivity has also become very important.

Scindia also said that it will now be possible to deliver the internet in those areas of the country where it is difficult to install traditional tower or cable. With this, good internet service will also be available in far-flung and hilly areas and a strong step will move towards Digital India.
