The Congress has demanded the Central Government to call an immediate special session of Parliament to discuss military and foreign policy. This demand has been made after the interview given by Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan in Singapore.
Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh told the PTI- the government should take all parties and the nation into confidence. After Operation Sindoor, discuss India’s defense preparations and strategies. The PM or the Defense Minister should have told the opposition leaders in the all -party meeting what General Chauhan has said in Singapore.
In fact, CDS Chauhan gave Bloomberg in an interview on 31 May at the Shangri-La dialogue program in Singapore. On the question of Pakistan’s claims of killing Indian jet, he said that the real issue is not how many aircraft have fallen, but why they fall?
At the same time, Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge has advised PM Modi. He said- PM Modi should focus on the enemy instead of praising himself for Operation Sindoor. Nobody can do this other than them.

Kharge said- our full support with the army
- I do not like to react to all statements (PM Modi), but I only request him that people in power should sometimes keep their mouth shut. They should separate themselves from elections and focus on the country.
- Whatever happened in the country, PM Modi should understand and speak. Without any political differences, I am saying that Modi should focus on the enemy instead of being proud of himself. No one else can do this other than him.
- As long as the army is, we are all safe. So we support the army. The Congress delegation has traveled abroad for deliberations. Let them come back. Till they come back, it is not right to roam around and give speech.
- When PM Modi has said that he has given full power to the army, why are they claiming that they have done so? Self-appreciation is not good. We will not say anything, because the situation is not normal.
Jairam said- CDS statements are coming, why could PM not give information
Jairam Ramesh said- It is a matter of concern that such statements are coming from Singapore from CDS. Why couldn’t PM Modi inform the opposition? Is it true that leaders are discussing this issue? We are demanding an all -party meeting and special session of Parliament for this purpose.
Ramesh said that 3 days after the end of Kargil War, the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee constituted a Kargil review committee headed by the father of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. The report was later introduced in Parliament, which was discussed. Is such a committee being constituted now?
Questions of other Congress leaders
Pawan Kheda, spokesperson Congress
All should be discussed in confidence by calling special sessions on issues like Operation Sindoor, CDS statements. When the US announced a ceasefire, the leader went abroad to discuss Operation Operation Sindoor. Who will answer the questions? The answer should not come from the army, but from the government.
The army is strong and he did what was necessary, but under the pressure of the ceasefire. Where are the terrorists of Pahalgam attack? What were the conditions for the ceasefire? What CDS said was shocking. Now there should be clarity. The government should call special sessions and answer questions.
Pramod Tiwari, Congress Deputy Leader in Rajya Sabha
The public should get logical answers. The whole country is asking, the leaders are talking different things, on the other hand CDS has said something else abroad. Accepting that our jet was dropped. The government should give clarification. Therefore, we are demanding to call a special session of Parliament for talks. All -party meeting can be called. But PM Modi has been bent on politicizing the might of the army for four days.
