Amarjot Singh alias Jota Sandhu, a resident of Bhattewad village of Amritsar (Rural), the chief operator of this network located in India, has been arrested. According to the police, Amarjot used to get a consignment of drugs from smugglers across the border and supplied them to various parts of Punjab. His accommodation was being used as the main hideout for this network.
The police have recovered 85 kg of heroin from his hideout, which is said to be crores of rupees in the international market. An FIR has been registered in this regard under the relevant sections and further investigation is on.

International connection is being investigated
The Tarn Taran police have confirmed that the network was operating from Pakistan and has indicated ISI’s involvement. The smugglers named Lalli, sitting in the UK, were controlling the entire network, while local agents like Amarjot used to handle delivery and supply at ground level.
Police said that they are investigating the backward and forward links ie the previous and further relations of the network. More arrests and seizures of drugs are possible in this.
Police strict action and vigilance
Senior officials of Tarn Taran police have described this action as a major success and said that drug smuggling in the border areas is being monitored on drugs, tunnels and other ways.
SSP Tarn Taran Abhimanyu Rana said that he is actively chasing more clues in this case. There is a possibility of more arrests and seizures in the coming days. Our action against drugs is based on zero tolerance.
