The first batch passout of women cadets is going to be held in the National Defense Academy (NDA). On May 30, the 148th course will have a passing out parade (POP). This will be the first time in history that 17 women cadets will be graduated from NDA with more than 300 men. The Indian Army, Navy and Air Force will then join.
In 2021, the Supreme Court ordered women to allow the NDA examination. After this, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) allowed women to apply. For the first time in 2022, a batch of 17 women cadets joined the NDA.
Some of these women cadets shared experiences about their three -year journey in NDA on Friday. Harsimran Kaur said that she will now attend the Indian Naval Academy. He said- As a women’s cadets are from the first batch, we have to make high-standards for junior cadets. I want to set a benchmark that they can follow.
